Okay, I don’t know if I got it from someone else or it’s because of lack of sleep, but today I woke up sick! All night I was tossing and turning because I woke up coughing and sneezing! It was really bad. When Arielle and I both were up and dressed, we headed out for breakfast. It felt good to get something into my stomach which means that I can’t be that sick. So after we all ate, it was time to head back to the rooms and get all of our stuff packed and ready to go. The thing was, even though we were all ready to go, Thomsen wasn’t. I think that there were technical difficulties, like journal entry's not being turned in on time. Oh well. So when everything was done, we headed out for Capitan amidst the new fallen snow and incredible winds. We were really being blown around, and someone said the wind was blowing at over 50 miles per hour. So far our ride has been really uneventful. Well, that is if you don’t count the thunderstorms, and tornado warnings. However, I think the most exciting thing that’s happened just happened now. We were all in a convenience store buying stuff and going to the bathroom. When we got back out the Penske wasn’t there! Jennifer said she wasn’t going anywhere until the Penske got back, so we called and waited. When the trucked arrived, Thomsen got out and he had a look on his face that could make someone drop dead. As we watched, Jen got out and then Thomsen started smiling! It turned out that they thought we knew where we were going but Jen wasn't sure so we just sat there. That was scary! Well, I dozed off for a while and when I woke up we were almost to Capitan, NM. As we drove into town it looked kind of old. But at the same time it seemed quaint and pleasant. When we drove up to the city hall, there were several people there to greet us. One of them happened to be Smokey Bear! Everyone gave him hugs and we got our picture taken with him. As we all ate, the mayor welcomed us to Capitan, and then afterward we all talked and enjoyed each other’s company. Before we left for Alamogordo, we headed towards the old town of Lincoln. When we drove through, it was really creepy, since the town was practically bare. However, we found a cute tourist shop, and I believe everyone got something. I was a little relieved when we left. As we headed out, I dozed off to sleep. When I woke up, we were heading in to Alamogordo. I started panicking because I had no idea what was going on. After a quick explanation from Arielle, I was right on task. However, before we got to the park, we got lost. So, Arielle had to give our contact a call. Thankfully Cindy found us, so we all headed out to Ameda Park. There, we met the mayor and got to be interviewed by TV. To top that off, we also got to plant two trees! That was great, except that I got my shoes all dirty again. Now we are at the Motel 6 in Alamogordo and I still feel sick. Thankfully the EmergenC is kicking in. I hope I will feel better tomorrow and hopefully, will still be able to pull my own weight. Missing all of you back home! |
