4-11-08 “28 Degrees” Print
We woke up a 5:00am because we needed to be riding by 6:00am.   Me, my mom, Tim, and Jennifer were riding first.  It was 32 degrees.  We rode for about 5 miles and it dropped 4 degrees, so it was 28 degrees.  It was so cold I couldn’t move my fingers.  We had to go in the car and warm up.
After we warmed up, we went back to riding.  The sun came out so it got warmer but not warm enough.   We rode for about 18 or 19 miles then we got off.  Tyrone rode.  Then Justin.  Alley and Jacob didn’t ride because they were sick.
We had our fourth police escort to Mesilla, New Mexico.  All the kids were in the plaza waiting for us.  They were screaming when we got there.  Alley and Arielle did another speech.  Afterwards, we planted flowers with the kids in the plaza.  It was really fun and made us all feel very good about what we are doing.
The city bought us lunch at Los Postas.  When you walked in the door there were parrots that you could talk to.  One of the parrots said “I love you.”
After lunch, we went shopping and walked around.  I bought a gift for my brother, Ben, for his birthday which I missed.
We left Mesilla and rode our bikes to Las Cruces.  We met the mayor, city manager, and some other people I can’t remember what they did.  The mayor gave us some presents.  One was a key to the city, but it wasn’t the real key.  I told him I was going to use the key to get into city hall.
We rode our bikes out of Las Cruces to Tucson until we hit a sign in the road that said no bikes.  We had to drive to Tucson, Arizona.
We are staying at Justin’s grandparent’s house, Judy and John.  They are very nice people.  They made us a big dinner.
Now I am really tired, so I am going to bed.
