| 4-04-08 Spot in the sky |

We got up at 6:30 AM today. We were planning to ride the whole day, but due to safety reasons we couldn’t. A storm robbed us of our time to ride our nice Redline bikes; many thanks to Stu at Alki Bike and Board in West Seattle, who helped assemble our bikes. The storm we went through rained the most I’ve seen in a long time. The weather reminded me of ocean sailing and I love to sail. In the future, maybe we could have an “Inconvenient Sail” with sail boats, which are more environmentally friendly than motor boats as they use renewable energy instead of fossil fuel. On my first ride of the day I did not get to ride my full hour because of a real dark spot in the clouds. It was such a small spot in the sky, but when Jacob and I were riding it started to pour down rain and hail. We got to ride for 30 minutes before we were pulled. The 2nd ride went way better; no rain and we rode for an hour and a half. Ally and Tyrone could have rode longer, but there was a lighting storm. I would have liked to ride through it, but Thomsen pulled us off the road. I know why he did it, but it would have made for a great experience. Jennifer got a perfect picture of a lighting bolt as it hit the ground. I tried to get the same picture for the rest of the day, but couldn’t get it. I have a real hard time understanding people back here. They speak different than we do and its hard for me to pick up the words. I don’t know about the others but I just nod my head a lot and hope it’s the right response. But they are really nice and friendly and make us all feel comfortable and they seem to be real glad that we are here. |
